Introduction continued:
I also continue to work to improve my homebrewing process and have listed all my suppliers here , my favorites being Utah Biodiesel Supply and B100 Supply. I use the "Appleseed" design, using a water heater as processor- these can be bulit safely and inexpensively- get started by seeing the excellent info at the collaborative biodiesel tutorial website. Plans and kits for building the Appleseed can be purchased from Utah Biodiesel Supply or B100 Supply.
If you're short on time and have a bit more money available, I'd take a look at the new automated pocessor called called the BioPro. made by AGR Energy. It comes in two sizes (50 gal and 100 gal), and I'm now a happy user- they make great fuel in just 48 hrs from start to finish.
I also recommend the Kuma biodiesel stove - pictured at left- it's over 80% efficient and can heat a 1200 sq ft house using about a gallon a day! (see pics page). We love ours and have saved a bundle in heating bills not to mention getting that much more off-grid!
Go to the 2007 Biodiesel Coops Conference in Golden, CO!! Great info and a fun way to meet like-minded folks. Presentations include topics such as methanol recovery, disposal of wastestreams, gas chromatogram analysis, quality control, and more.
Ready to trade in your gas car for a diesel? Click here for complete list of past diesel models, compliments of the gobiodiesel coop. My '02 Jetta TDI just aced inspection with an opacity reading of 1% (where under 20% is a pass!).
For Seattle area biodiesel goings-on check out the Northwest Biodiesel Network which has open and free monthly meetings the 4th Tuesday evening of every month at the Phinney Neighborhood Center- a great way to meet fellow biodieselers or get your questions answered!
